Originally from Norway bassist and composer Thomas Winther Andersen has been based in Amsterdam for several years.
He toured in Europe and the USA with different musicians and bands. A selection of musicians Thomas has worked with are: Håkon Storm Mathisen , Jimmy Halperin, Lee Konitz, Sheila Jordan, Jasper Blom, Robert Rook, Michiel Borstlap and many more.

Education
Thomas graduated from Amsterdam Conservatory in 1993 and added a master a year later at the Conservatory of Den Hague. In 1995 he received a grant from the Dutch foundation "Fonds voor de podiumkunsten" to study in New York with Sal Mosca

Composition

Thomas composed for various jazz ensembles, Big Band and chamber music for various players. In 2002 Thomas was supported by “Komponistenes vederlagsfond” to write five compositions for a nine piece jazz band. In 2003 bassist Dan Styffe ordered a piece for bass and piano Bass Mutation. Other through out composed pieces for bass are: Upright Funeral Music for two bassists (2001) and Variations of a Jazz Ballad for bass and piano (2002). Thomas compositions were recorded for the Norwegian and Dutch radio and many of them are available on CD recordings.
